BILLY "THUNDER" MASON

Billy "Thunder" Mason (born in Fairborn, Ohio) is an American drummer who was a member of Tim McGraw's touring band, The Dancehall Doctors for 18 years. He has toured or recorded with artists such as Tobin Sprout, Faith Hill, Bill Anderson, Paulette Carlson, among others. Mason has also trained with drummer Charlie Adams. His start was in a local band called Bros. Rock. One of the band's songs, "Sharing The World", was featured on STS-123 as the wake-up call for pilot Gregory Johnson,the brother of the band's guitarist and lead singer, Gary Johnson.

 

Billy was a part of the Nashville Rising Benefit when Nashville was flooded. The benefit raised over 3 million dollars. The Dancehall Doctors including Billy played behind : Carrie Underwood, Toby Keith, Miley Cyrus, Lynard Skynard, Montgomery Gentry, Taylor Swift, Amy Grant, Michael W Smith, Martina McBride, Leanne Rimes, Sandra Bullock, Miranda Lambert, Reba McIntire, and many more. He has also played with Elton John, Tony Bennett, Kenny Rogers, Jim Belushi,

 

Tim McGraw's "Live Like You Were Dying" won 2 grammies in which Billy played drums. He has been on every awards show and every talk show that there is to play on. He also recorded with Don Henley and Timothy B Schmidt of the Eagles on the track "Illegal" on Tim McGraw and the Dancehall Doctor albums. Played also with Neo /Chris Brown.

 

Live 8 Benefit that was over 300k people in Rome with Tim McGraw and Faith Hill.

He has been a guest speaker or lecturer at Oxford University (United Kingdom), GM Financial Group, the Academy of Contemporary Music (London), the Collective School of Music (New York City), Dallas City Hall, the Asian-American Chamber of Commerce Dallas, International Leadership of Texas, International Conservatory of Music, University of Texas Arlington, Singapore Polytechnic, MediaTech Institute, the Sessions panel, and various elementary schools, high schools, and churches internationally.

Originally from Northern California and currently living in Nashville Tennessee, Mark is an active performing drummer, Specializing in a variety of genres to include Rock, Pop, Country and Blues!

 

Besides playing and recording with many locals acts, his current focus goes beyond Drumming in his efforts to continue to build Operation Booty Move, a Dance Party band and DJ combo.

 

Not only the drummer but the Owner and Founder, his pursuit to grow a brand and employ musicians worldwide giving people what they want and making them Dance is the focus!

 

Mark also actively teaches Drumming and full bands with Rockstar Music Education and his own private teaching practices.
